Now that the kids are back in school, we figured we’d give you a little refresher course of your own. This month, we’ll be recapping some of the features you can use on a daily basis to get the most out of your Blue by ADT security system. You’ll learn about how you can customize your security alerts, how to control your security system using your voice with Google and how your Blue by ADT system can help you keep your furbabies safe.
There’s an alert for that: Get personalized notifications from Blue by ADT
Summer’s over. That means the kids are back in school and your work schedule might be a bit less flexible. It also means that you may not be home as often to take care of your pets or greet the kids when they get off the bus. However, you can still stay in the loop. With the Blue by ADT app, you can customize your alert settings so you only get the notifications you want, in the way that works best for you.
For example, you can get alerts via push notification, text message or email when:
- The dog walker rings your doorbell camera or when your outdoor cam sees the kids playing in the backyard.
- Your system is armed or disarmed, and you’ll even be informed of who made this change.
- If your alarm or one of your sensors is triggered. This includes burglar, fire and panic alarms.
- There’s trouble with your system or issues with your cameras that need to be addressed.
You can add alerts or make changes to your existing alerts at any time. If you need help adjusting your notification settings, you can find a walkthrough in our Support Center.
Your Blue by ADT system works with Google Home
Control your Blue by ADT system hands-free using a Google Assistant-enabled device like the Nest Mini, Nest Hub (2nd gen) or Nest Hub Max*. Use your voice to control your Blue by ADT system, plus dozens of compatible smart home devices — just ask Google. Start by downloading the Google Home app. That means even more convenience and peace of mind.
Try one of the voice commands below to begin:
Security: "Hey Google, arm my system"
Lights: "Hey Google, turn on the living room lights"
Locks: "Hey Google, lock the front door"
Thermostat: "Hey Google, set the thermostat to 70 degrees"

Check in and power up
Take time during National Preparedness Month in September to check your home security system device batteries. It’s easy. You can look at the dashboard of the Blue by ADT app anytime to see if your devices or sensors have a low battery level. Test and/or change the batteries in your home’s smoke and CO detectors and your system’s fire safety sensor. You should also see if other battery-operated security system devices at your home need fresh batteries like door/window sensors, motion sensors, glass break sensors and the system’s entry keypad. You can find more about how to change the batteries for each device in the Support Center. Also, get battery life tips for the Blue Wireless Outdoor Camera.
